Wertheim pianos are distributed in Australia by Marketing 4 You Pty Ltd and are sold through authorised Wertheim retailers. Wertheim pianos are covered by a 12 year structural warranty.
Your Wertheim piano is a very complex and sophisticated instrument, made from traditional materials primarly of quality wood, felt, leather and metal. There are thousands of moving parts and all these require fine regulation and tuning in order for the instrument to achieve and maintain its highest performance levels. A skilled technician is valuable to you for this purpose.
Placement of your piano
Make sure your piano is not against an outside wall that will have direct contact with sun or other weather extremes. Sudden changes in temperature places undue stress on wood components, changing its performance values and reducing its life span.
Don't place your piano in a drafty area. Dry air or moist air again will cause problems with tuning stability, while moisture laden air can cause notes to stick due to the swelling of wooden components.
Don't place your piano next to a fire or other heating devices. A constant temperature is best. If you live in extreme climactic conditions it is best to install a climate control system such as the Dampp Chaser (R).
Exterior finish
The polyester finish of your piano is very hardy. Don't allow direct expore to sun as this will, over time, bleach the finish. Clean your piano with a moist chamois then buff with a soft cotton cloth. Cleaners that contain solvents and abrasives should never be used.
Tuning
Your piano was delivered to you at standard pitch of A440. Over time this pitch drops and it becomes necessary to tune all the strings from this reference pitch. Tuning at least once a year is recommended, more so if the piano is used extensively.
Regulating
The "action" is the mechanism that transfers the pianist's touch of the key to the hammer striking the strings. The adjustment of this very sophisticated system provides the pianist with the best possible touch and control of his/her performance. Your Wertheim Technician is certified to carry out this work when required.
Voicing
This hammerhead, which is covered in felt, is what strikes the strings to produce the sound of the piano. Over time this hammer gradually becomes harder. The harder the hammer, the brighter that particular note will sound. Voicing is the process of making sure that every note (88 of them) has consistent quality of tone in relationship with all other notes.
Voicing and regulating is generally done at the same time.
Your Wertheim piano has been extensively tuned, regulated and voiced at the factory and again by your Wertheim Dealer prior to delivery, however as this is a new instrument made of living materials, an extended settling in period will occur. We recommend you have your piano inspected six months after delivery.
Ensure the best possible care of your Wertheim by using an accredited Wertheim Technician.
