From the beginning Hugo imported his German pianos and also sewing machines manufactured by his cousin. Demand was great for pianos in this young country so the Australian Wertheim piano factory was built and established in 1908 in Bendigo St, Richmond, site of the Channel Nine television studios today.

Time has moved forward and Wertheim pianos are now proudly produced in Melbourne's sister city Tian Jian, in China, crafted in a state of the art facility. Pianos are produced using the most advanced piano manufacturing techniques available. Like the early built Wertheim pianos they are built to standards that will last for generation upon generation of pianists to enjoy.
