Blüthner is one of the most highly respected piano manufacturers in the world. It was founded in Leipzig, Germany in 1853 by Julius Blüthner and remains a family business to this day. It has been embraced by great composers and artists such as Debussy, Rachmaninov, Liszt, Wilhelm Kempff, the Beatles and Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber. Blüthner pianos are a prominent feature in famous concert halls across the world.

Rim Construction and Bracing
The outer rim is made in two halves using up to 7 layers of veneers, laminated crosswise with water resistant glue. The inner rim is laminated of at least 14 layers of select beech. These parts are carefully stored until a uniform moisture content of 8% plus or minus 1.5% is reached. The thickness of the inner rim is 40-46mm, the thickness of the outer rim is 22-27mm according to the size of the instrument.

A strong construction with five or four back-posts that pick up the tension of the strings, assisting the iron frame to withstand the enormous pull of approximately 18 tons. Thus a durable tuning of the instruments is assured.

foundation for the world famous Blüthner soundboard.
