In 1875 when German Immigrant Hugo Wertheim arrived in Australia, it
was to be the start of a new era for Australia and piano manufacturing.
Hugo imported Wertheim pianos from Germany until he opened the
Wertheim piano factory at Bendigo Street Richmond in 1908. This state
of the art factory produced high quality Wertheim pianos and many of
these pianos take pride of place in many Australian homes and venues.
Wertheim was the piano of choice for many great performing musicians
including Dame Nellie Melba.
The Wertheim concert grand piano from the
Melbourne Tivoli theater can be played in an art gallery in South
Melbourne. This piano is now proudly owned by a Melbourne
professor. Wertheim pianos have always maintained a very high
standard of tonal colour and precise touch. For the past 2 years Del
Fanderich has consulted to the factory that produces these magnificent
Wertheim pianos. Del is one of the most highly respected piano
designers in the world and his involvement has ensured that Wertheim
pianos are the very best value pianos that you can buy.
A Wertheim Gold Series piano or a Wertheim Platinum Series piano will ad value to any room in your house.
Some piano brands ask you to invest in their past. A Wertheim piano is an investment in your future.

The piano was invented around 1709 in Italy by Bartolomeo Christofori.
Its design was based on the instrument of the day, the harpsichord. The
harpsichord, having no sensitivity to touch, tone or volume, led
Christofori to devise a hammer action to give both soft and loud sounds
depending on the touch of the player, hence the name Pianoforte - this
means 'soft' and 'loud' in Italian. The piano underwent many
refinements over many years to become what it is today. |
